On MSNBC, today, you can find an article along with video, about a disabled man and his treatment by a deputy.
Truthfully, I’m sickened by it. However, Kyron is much more coherent about it then I am, and you should go read her article about it.

My kids are my kids. They just “are.” I don’t compare them… They’re both special needs, but completely different kinds of needs. But one is neurotypical and the other not. I never really notice the difference… mainly because we do what needs to be gotten done, and it doesn’t matter who for.

One things that seems very universal in terms of parenting special needs kids is feeling solitary. Like you’re the only one dealing with it and everyone else has “normal” lives. It’s isolating.
